David J., CPT, CNC
Nutrition Consultant, Certified Personal Trainer
My name is David Johns and I have witnessed first hand the importance of nutrition and exercise in promoting an overall healthy lifestyle. Weighing almost 290lbs at the age of 17 and not able to keep up with friends who were much more fit and active than me, I decided to make a change and turn things around in my life. I lost 120lbs with the right balance of nutrition and fitness and a reinvented attitude. I went from a 44” waist to earning the title of Mr. Teen Utah in 2003. I went on to win 7 natural bodybuilding titles before the age of 20. I also worked as a trainer in a gym for a year and realized that clients weren’t getting the results I knew they were capable of because of a lack of specific nutritional knowledge. I made the move to Total Health and Fitness which teaches a three-fold program that encompasses nutrition, fitness and supplements and have been educating clients on HOW AND WHY they need to eat and exercise to reach their goals. I have met with over 1,000 people with goals ranging from losing 100lb of fat weight to gaining muscle, to winning Olympic gold. My clients come in all shapes and sizes! I LOVE what I do because I make lives better each day in THE BEST facility in the state! I encourage anyone with a fitness/wellness goal to tour our facility and come in for a free introduction to see what a customized nutrition and fitness program can do for changing your life.

Chrissy A. MS, RD, CPT
Registered Dietitian, Nutrition consultant, Certified Personal Trainer
My name is Chrissy and I am a Registered Dietitian and personal trainer at Total Health and Fitness. My fitness journey started with the goal of optimizing my own physical health and improving my athletic performance. My principles have evolved to include the bigger picture of complete balanced health.
My love for nutrition and physical wellbeing stems from the belief that mental and emotional health are the foundation for total health. By changing our mind, we can change our body and by changing our body, we can change our mind. If we are literally made of the food we eat, nutrition is a part of all aspects of health.
I graduated from Idaho State with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics and Biology. I continued my education at the University of Utah where I completed a graduate degree in Dietetics with an emphasis in nutrition education and research. My thesis work investigated treatment and prevention for diabetes using nutrition as well as how to change body composition by having complete nutrition.
Total Health and Fitness has provided me the platform to teach individuals using proven, effective methods to reach goals, maintain health, and decrease risk of metabolic health problems.
- Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Biology

Kelcie G., CPT
Nutrition Consultant, Certified Personal Trainer
My name is Kelcie George, I am happy to be a part of a team of Consultants and Certified Personal Trainers here at Total Health and Fitness.
My passion to be a part of such great work stemmed from playing soccer most of my life and living an active life. Although, it wasn’t until these activities and activity level, in general, dropped drastically did I fully start to grasp how important nutrition and exercise really is. After having graduated from college with my Associate of Health Science degree and had played soccer for two years while I was there, I had a rude wake-up call to my bad eating habits- yes it’s the classic has-been collegiate athlete story.
Thankfully I loved learning about nutrition and began to implement changes in my life that have brought me to where I am today, physically and mentally feeling better than I did even as a collegiate athlete. Through my own trial and error, the most important thing I have learned is that everyone is on their own journey. This is an often overlooked aspect when people are taking a big step to begin their health and fitness journey. I am very motivated by my clients and seeing them take the wonderful challenge of bettering themselves in a way that suits them as a person. Health takes on many names these days, my goal is to clear that up for every one of my clients- and help them see it through.

Melinda S., MS, RD, CPT
Registered Dietitian, Nutrition consultant, Certified Personal Trainer
Growing up in poverty taught me the value of nutrition and the joy of delicious food. I believe food should be enjoyed, and our bodies be respected.
Nutrition and weight management can feel like climbing Mt. Everest. We are fighting against biology, psychology, and more. Great news: even the busiest people can prioritize nutrition and wellness! My passion is to find that solution for all my clients.
I’ve created meal plans for 200+ international clients with gluten or dairy intolerance; vegan, vegetarian and FODMAP diets; dysphagia, metabolic conditions such as phenylketonuria, and multiple allergies (egg, soy, milk, peanut, corn, shellfish).
I’ve guided groups of women struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating towards having a healthy relationship with food, positive body image, and intuitive eating. I’ve enjoyed working with various populations (Native American, Asian, Latinx, etc.) to accommodate global cuisines.
My dietetics internship has given me firsthand experience with clients in hospitals such as St. Mark’s Bariatric and Diabetes Center, Intermountain Hospitals (Ogden, Provo, Murray). There I provided patients with post-discharge nutrition therapy for newly diagnosed diabetes, myocardial infarctions, hypertension, and more.
In my free time, you’ll find me whipping up a restaurant meal at home, dancing to the Fitness Marshall on YouTube, or calming things down with yoga.

Registered Dietitian, Nutrition consultant, Certified Personal Trainer
With so much confusing and contradictory nutrition advice going around, it’s no wonder that people feel discouraged and become frustrated with food. As a registered dietitian here at Total Health and Fitness, I get excited anytime I can help someone improve their relationship with food and learn healthy approaches to eating that will serve them for the rest of their life. My own health and fitness journey has shown me that learning principles of healthy eating can be liberating, empowering, and extremely fulfilling—and I’m excited to help others experience the same thing. While working with me each week, you can expect to gain clear, evidence-based answers to questions such as these:
- What does healthy eating look like?
- How can I plan to take care of my body at regular times throughout the day?
- How do I handle holidays, birthdays, eating out, or other events where food is involved?
- How can I eat so that I feel happy, full, and healthy while maintaining a healthy weight?
While earning my master’s degree in food science and nutrition, I developed a passion for teaching basic cooking skills as a way of showing people that healthy eating can be easy to prepare and can taste delicious. I specialize in Motivational Interviewing for nutrition counseling purposes, and I help Total Health and Fitness clients become experts at mindful and intuitive eating practices by teaching them different approaches to eating that will help them enjoy food like never before.
Outside of work, I love backpacking through Utah’s national parks and forests, lifting weights in the gym, and listening to Frank Sinatra records while attempting new recipes in the kitchen.

Austen E., CPT
Nutrition Consultant, Certified Personal Trainer
My name is Austen Edwards, and I am a trainer at Total Health and Fitness. I initially got into health and fitness to improve my athletic abilities for football and mixed martial arts. I ended up falling in love with the concept of living a healthy lifestyle based on the fact that I could see an improvement in my physical health, mental health, and life overall from making my health a priority. From there, I ended up competing in a few NPC competitions and earning top spots as the youngest competitor on stage & capturing the overall title for teens in the men’s physique category. Since then I have been working with my family and peers around me to live a healthier lifestyle so they could also reap the benefits of having better health. I’ve worked in many supplement shops and gyms, and from there I made the move to Total Health and Fitness so I could have the opportunity to work with more people to help them achieve their health and fitness goals.

Registered Dietitian, Nutrition consultant, Certified Personal Trainer
I grew up playing sports and loved every minute of it, yet I also had very low self-esteem. After high school, I picked up running in order to keep up with my mentality of “always be skinny no matter what.” I seemed to believe that being skinny was the answer to some deep pain I felt.
Fast forward in life, I got a divorce at 31 years old and I decided to try what I wanted to do for a long time which was lift weights. I instantly fell in love with how it made me feel, and over time, my confidence began to grow. With many life-long challenges, my one constant became taking care of my body in healthy ways and doing that which helps my body, instead of punishing it.
I am now a registered dietitian and certified personal trainer who has a deep passion for helping other people learn how to live life in their best health. Making a lifestyle of good health is so much more than just the physical transformation. Life is meant to be lived and good health is fundamental to that.
