I am a Registered Dietitian dedicated to helping people discover lifestyles that align with their physical, mental, social, and cultural needs. Food is fuel but also so much more. My goal is to create a comfortable and encouraging environment, focusing on education, behavioral modifications, and inclusivity to develop sustainable habits.
Although I have a diverse background providing nutrition education to various populations and medical conditions, my specialty is sports nutrition. During my studies in Dietetics, I had the opportunity to intern for two years with Virginia Tech Sports Nutrition, which then inspired me to move to Utah and complete my Master’s degree and dietetic internship in Sports Nutrition. I spent much of my internship at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital working with youth athletes and the Utah Warriors Major League Rugby team. Prior to working with Total Health and Fitness, I worked at University of Maryland as a Sports Dietitian Fellow overseeing the nutritional care and education for 7 sports teams.
Outside of work, you can (almost) always find me in the mountains either biking, climbing, backpacking, or skiing. My other hobbies include getting creative in the kitchen and volunteering with dog rescue!
I look forward to sharing my knowledge, resources, and professional experiences with you to guide you on your journey with Total Health and Fitness and beyond.

My name is David Johns and I have witnessed first hand the importance of nutrition and exercise in promoting an overall healthy lifestyle. Weighing almost 290lbs at the age of 17 and not able to keep up with friends who were much more fit and active than me, I decided to make a change and turn things around in my life. I lost 120lbs with the right balance of nutrition and fitness and a reinvented attitude. I went from a 44” waist to earning the title of Mr. Teen Utah in 2003. I went on to win 7 natural bodybuilding titles before the age of 20. I also worked as a trainer in a gym for a year and realized that clients weren’t getting the results I knew they were capable of because of a lack of specific nutritional knowledge. I made the move to Total Health and Fitness which teaches a three-fold program that encompasses nutrition, fitness and supplements and have been educating clients on HOW AND WHY they need to eat and exercise to reach their goals. I have met with over 1,000 people with goals ranging from losing 100lb of fat weight to gaining muscle, to winning Olympic gold. My clients come in all shapes and sizes! I LOVE what I do because I make lives better each day in THE BEST facility in the state! I encourage anyone with a fitness/wellness goal to tour our facility and come in for a free introduction to see what a customized nutrition and fitness program can do for changing your life.

Helping others with their Health and Fitness has been a lifelong passion of mine. I recognize that everyone is unique. This is why I love our program. We get to develop a customized plan together as a team. We identify personal obstacles / barriers and create a game plan to be achieve lifestyle goals and lifelong success. It’s important to not only know what the goal is, but how to get there. I feel it’s also important to create menus and exercise plans that are sustainable – a way of life – by choosing food and activities that are enjoyed! We can find the “good, better, best” options together. I also love teaching how to prepare for and learn from life’s “curve balls” (unexpected events, holidays, travel, etc.).
When not working with clients I love to travel. I’ve been all over the world – to every continent (except Antarctica), but I especially love traveling to Pittsburgh where I’m from. My favorite spectator sport is Hockey specifically watching the Pittsburgh Penguins. I also enjoy hiking, dancing, and hanging out with my German Shepherd and two wonderful kids.

I have always had a passion for health and fitness and received a bachelor’s degree from BYU in Exercise and Wellness, and my CPT from NASM. After college I chose to pursue my business interest and open up a family restaurant, O’ Crowley Irish Tacos in Utah County. I lived a very busy lifestyle and didn’t really pay attention to my own personal fitness. I struggled with my health and weight, even though I knew better. I finally decided to get serious and apply my knowledge of nutrition and exercise for my own body transformation. In about 10 months I went from 260 lbs. and 24% body fat, to 195 lbs. and 6% body fat. I enjoyed every minute of my transformation and it deepened my desire to help others and get back into the fitness industry. I am loving this new lifestyle and working as a consultant at Total Health and Fitness. Going through this process has deepened my desire to help others achieve healthy lifestyles and get great results!
- Graduated in Exercise and Wellness B.S. from Brigham Young University 2014

I grew up playing sports and loved every minute of it, yet I also had very low self-esteem. After high school, I picked up running in order to keep up with my mentality of “always be skinny no matter what.” I seemed to believe that being skinny was the answer to some deep pain I felt.
Fast forward in life, I got a divorce at 31 years old and I decided to try what I wanted to do for a long time which was lift weights. I instantly fell in love with how it made me feel, and over time, my confidence began to grow. With many life-long challenges, my one constant became taking care of my body in healthy ways and doing that which helps my body, instead of punishing it.
I am now a registered dietitian and certified personal trainer who has a deep passion for helping other people learn how to live life in their best health. Making a lifestyle of good health is so much more than just the physical transformation. Life is meant to be lived and good health is fundamental to that.

My name is Austen Edwards, and I am a trainer at Total Health and Fitness. I initially got into health and fitness to improve my athletic abilities for football and mixed martial arts. I ended up falling in love with the concept of living a healthy lifestyle based on the fact that I could see an improvement in my physical health, mental health, and life overall from making my health a priority. From there, I ended up competing in a few NPC competitions and earning top spots as the youngest competitor on stage & capturing the overall title for teens in the men’s physique category. Since then I have been working with my family and peers around me to live a healthier lifestyle so they could also reap the benefits of having better health. I’ve worked in many supplement shops and gyms, and from there I made the move to Total Health and Fitness so I could have the opportunity to work with more people to help them achieve their health and fitness goals.

I graduated from BYU in Exercise & Wellness and obtained my CPT and CNC from NASM. I love helping people bridge the gap between understanding healthy eating and fitness habits and implementing those habits into their lifestyle in a sustainable way. I’ve always had a deep love for fitness and nutrition, and I spent most of my teenage years working as a referee for my hometown’s youth basketball program and participating on my high school’s cross country and track teams. Before working with Total Health and Fitness, I worked as a manager at a popular supplement establishment and as a certified personal trainer at a large comprehensive gym.
After learning so much about health and wellness through both my formal education and personal experiences, I knew I wanted to direct my career path towards helping educate and assist others in their fitness journey. Although my educational background and certifications have given me the formal qualifications, my years of personal experiences with both exercise and nutrition build upon my capacity as a trainer and coach. mentally capable of doing the things that I love, like hunting and
I have personal experience with bio-identical hormones and feel that along with a customized nutrition and exercise plan, the combination can increase optimal wellness for those who struggle with a hormonal imbalance.
